Therapeutic alternative provision for Key Stages 1&2

Our aim is to help every child overcome their difficulties, regain or develop a sense of self-worth, self-control and develop the skills and competence to maintain relationships and access education in an appropriate setting.

  • We offer bespoke packages for individual children in a calm environment where children will be working either 1:1 or in small groups. Some children access our provision for a few hours a week whilst others have up to 15 hours with us. This depends upon their needs and on the funding available.

Nurture and education sessions are led by trained teachers and are supported by qualified team members. We run many outdoor sessions such as gardening and forest school.

Typically the child's timetable will focus on therapy and nurture initially and once the child has settled the education sessions will increase.

  • We offer bespoke therapeutic and educational programmes for children and young people presenting a range of complex needs associated with trauma including social, emotional, mental health and learning difficulties. Specifically, we cater for children struggling in a mainstream school environment, school avoiders and children waiting for specialist provision placements. We take referrals from schools, LA and Social Services. Referrals are assessed on a case by case basis.

  • Prior to us embarking on educational provision, we recognise the importance of ensuring that the individual is in a secure emotional state to join us. This means that we carefully plan with the educational setting and the Caregiver/Parent what best needs to happen to make the transition as comfortable and smooth as possible.

Please note, our Alternative Provision follows the Norfolk schools calendar. Any enquiries or referrals made during a school holiday will be picked up on our return. Many thanks for your patience.

  • Thank you for all you have done for our son. I think the placement has been incredibly successful – the fact he is embracing transition at school so well is the proof of the pudding!

  • Verbatim's service was absolutely wonderful - the expertise from the whole team is clear, their commitment to a child who was hard to get to the provision was so kind and their generosity with their time and energies to support us as a school was amazing and certainly went above and beyond.
