Therapeutic Alternative Provision for Key Stages 1&2
Our aim is to help every child overcome their difficulties, regain or develop a sense of self-worth, self-control and develop the skills and competence to maintain relationships and access education in an appropriate setting.
-
We offer bespoke packages for individual children in a calm environment where children will be working either 1:1 or in small groups. Some children access our provision for a few hours a week whilst others have up to 15 hours with us. This depends upon their needs and on the funding available.
Nurture and education sessions are led by trained teachers and are supported by qualified team members. We run many outdoor sessions such as gardening and forest school.
Typically the child's timetable will focus on therapy and nurture initially and once the child has settled the education sessions will increase.
-
We offer bespoke therapeutic and educational programmes for children and young people presenting a range of complex needs associated with trauma including social, emotional, mental health and learning difficulties. Specifically, we cater for children struggling in a mainstream school environment, school avoiders and children waiting for specialist provision placements. We take referrals from schools, LA and Social Services. Referrals are assessed on a case by case basis.
-
Prior to us embarking on educational provision, we recognise the importance of ensuring that the individual is in a secure emotional state to join us. This means that we carefully plan with the educational setting and the Caregiver/Parent what best needs to happen to make the transition as comfortable and smooth as possible.
Please note, our Alternative Provision follows the Norfolk schools calendar. Any enquiries or referrals made during a school holiday will be picked up on our return. Many thanks for your patience.

What is AP?
AP stands for Alternative Provision. This is a term used to describe education which is provided outside of traditional school. At Verbatim our Alternative Provision consists of a bespoke package for children including nurture sessions and therapy alongside education. We provide a package of support for children who have suffered from trauma and are unable to access mainstream education.
-
Do sessions run throughout the year?
At Verbatim the Alternative Provision follows the Norfolk School term calendar dates. This can be seen on our website.
-
I am a parent, can I make a referral for my child?
Our referral form can be found on our website. This needs to be completed by your child’s school. We recommend that you work alongside your child’s school to complete this.
-
What does the Alternative Provision include?
We design a package of support to best meet the needs of the individual child. This means that each child’s experience will be slightly different. However all will initially have a focus on therapy and nurture before introducing education.
-
How long do sessions last?
Each session is generally 50 minutes long followed by a 10 minute break. Children tend to join us for either 3 or 6 hours a day depending on their needs.
-
How will my child get to you?
Transport is organised by parents or school depending on the individual situation.
