Occupational Therapy is an evidence-based health-care profession that helps people across the life-span to do the things they want and need to do. This is achieved through the therapeutic use of daily activities, otherwise called ’occupations’. OT practitioners have a holistic perspective focussing on adapting the environment or task to ‘fit’ the person. Therapeutic OT interventions can include helping children with mental and physical disabilities to participate and engage in school and social situations. This may be achieved by individualised assessment and goal setting and is totally client-led, with the client being the integral part of the team.
