What is offered?

As a specialist teacher, I can offer bespoke specific teaching for children and young people to help support their learning within school especially with reading, writing, spelling and numeracy skills. Underpinning all these academic areas is also the ability to organise and understand how best they learn and study which I gently guide them through.

The core of all my teaching is that learning is made fun and that my students feel empowered and motivated to learn. Through careful initial assessment, using their interests and building on their strengths, I create lessons that target key areas of concern. Each lesson is highly multi-sensory and builds on previous learning so that the child feels successful.

What age do you tutor?

All ages! Recently, my youngest has been 5 and the oldest a 55 year old lady with dyslexia who wanted to learn to read to her grandchildren and keep up with those “funny phonics!”

What do they need to bring?

All resources are provided including drinks and snacks which are negotiated in the first session with parents/carers approval.

Many children like to bring their homework/specific school books so that they can work through any difficulties and we can help build in a timetable to help them to finish the work.

Where?

All teaching happens in our beautiful room at Pensthorpe which has the capacity for all types of learning from curling up in our big relaxing chairs, plenty of open space for active study, working on tablets as well as the more traditional sitting at a table! With the ability to open one side of the room up to the outdoors – children love working whilst being open to nature and fresh air – snuggly blankets provided!

How long?

Unless by prior arrangement, each tuition session last an hour with short ‘brain breaks’ built in.

How much?

£25 for Primary school up to Year 5.

£30 for Year 6 and above
